In Memory of Doug Seward

April 29, 1969 - November 10, 2006
Doug was born in Brush, Colorado to Douglas and Dian (DeLong) Seward.
He married Angela Bradford on July 11, 1998 and lived in Hayden since 2004.
Doug graduated from Brush High School in 1987. Following graduation, he moved to Greeley and attended Aims Community College and later earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from UNC. He later attended and graduated from Eaton Academy of Natural Therapy and also earned his Acutherapy certification. While attending college he worked for King Soopers. He also owned and operated Life Style Therapy, which was located in the Conditioning Spa in Greeley, and later moved his practice to Steamboat Springs and Craig.
He also worked at the Yampa Valley Medical Center and the Steamboat Smokehouse.
Doug was a director of Rocky Mountain Connection Sports Massage Team. He also recently participated in and finished the Steamboat Springs Triathlon.
We will miss Doug immensely. |

The Rocky Mountain Connection Sports Massage Team was organized as a profit organization in 2003, by Andy Duncan, Alexander Gaebler, Dave Metcalf, and Ed Orcutt. Dave has moved on, and Alex is an occasional consultant. Ed is the President. The RMC sports team is composed of various sports massage therapists in Colorado, and Wyoming, and Nebraska who are dedicated to providing excellence in sports massage to professional and recreational athletes and their spectators.
The main Objective of the RMC Sports Massage Team, is to help boost performance potential, positive psychological factors, prevent injuries through pre-event massage, and help the athletes facilitate faster recovery from strenuous events and previous injuries. This allows the athlete to achieve their maximum long and/or short term goals.
The team’s purpose is to set standards of excellence in the theory, and practice of sports massage .This concept, and its initiation will have far reaching benefits for the athletes, the team members, and the field of massage therapy.
The team’s growth and interest is very positive. Each therapist, has a minimum of 20 hours of sports massage training from a certified school of massage therapy, state licensed from another state, city licensed, registered, or certified massage therapist from a minimum of a 500hr. massage therapy program. School courses included in the 500 hr. requirement include, anatomy/physiology, business, client issues, marketing, and pathology, as well as CPR, First Aid, cryotherapy, and heat application .The educational background is augmented by full liability insurance coverage for each therapist, which is required before performing massage therapy on the athletes at the event.

The Rocky Mountain Connection…A Unique Sports Massage Team (RMC) & Nebraska Sports Team is preparing for its forth year in operation.
Our RMC Team has provided on-site sports massage services to athletes/participants and spectators alike at events like The NORBA Regionals; The MS150 Colorado Bike Tour; The High Unitas Classic (Evanston, WY), The UCI World Cup, The Tour of the Vineyards, USARA National Championships ( Tampa, Fl), The NCAA National Road Cycling Championships( Lawrence, Kn.), The Psycopath series, Channel One Marketing events, and The Dave Babcock Memorial Race (Nebraska), and The Dead Dog Classic ( Laramie, Wy). In 2005 and 2006 we covered events in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, and New Mexico. This year we plan to expand into Kansas. Currently we have several events on the calendar for our 2008 season.
For those of you familiar with our team, there have been a few changes this year. Ed Orcutt is the president of the RMC. We are limiting membership this year according to our events.
